Seeking psychological support can feel like a big step. You may know that something isn't working as well as you'd like, but not know exactly why, or where, to begin.
My role is to help you make sense of what's happening, understand the patterns that may be contributing to difficulties, and develop practical ways forward.
Before becoming a psychologist, I worked as a pre-school, primary and early secondary school teacher. I have worked with children and adolescents throughout my working life, and this experience continues to shape the way I work with young people and families.
Education taught me to look beyond behaviour and ask what might be happening underneath it.
A child who is refusing school, becoming overwhelmed, withdrawing, becoming angry or struggling to regulate may be communicating something they don't yet have the words to explain.
That perspective continues to inform my psychological work.
I also work with adults who may be navigating anxiety, perfectionism, burnout, emotional overwhelm, high-pressure roles, ADHD-related difficulties and challenging life transitions.
My approach is warm, collaborative and practical. I don't believe therapy should be about simply talking about what's wrong. Where appropriate, we'll work together to understand the patterns involved and develop strategies that can be used in everyday life.
My Approach
Depending on your needs, my work may draw on: -
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
-
Schema-informed therapy
-
Trauma-informed approaches
-
Emotional regulation strategies
-
Practical skill-building
-
Neuro-affirming approaches
Every client is different, so therapy is tailored to the individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all formula.
